ABOUT US

DENAIR FRIENDS CHURCH

Is located in the small town of Denair in California’s central valley.  We have a rich heritige that dates back to 1907 when the Friends Church was first settled in Denair. We are a part of the Evangelical Friends Church Southwest Conference.

MISSION OF THE CHURCH

Jesus’ prayer was for all of us to be in unity with each other. This unity means that we all recognize that Jesus is Lord—there is no other way under heaven or on earth that anyone can be saved; Jesus is the Head of the church. DFC follows a universal spiritual principle—God is love. In John 13:35, Jesus states that the world will know us by our love for one another. This deep love for one another allows us to forgive each other, to be generous with one another, and to be people of grace and mercy that can only come from God. It is this kind of love that people are attracted to. DFC believes, as we become so closely knit together in love and unity, people will be drawn to us.  DFC strives to be obedient to the things God has called us to— as a church. This means that we will prepare our services and ministry opportunities to the best of our ability in order to bring honor to God and not be a detraction from Him.

The way Jesus did ministry was to put himself in the path of other people. He did not sit back and wait for people to come to Him. He went out to where they were. The early church reached out to those who were hurting and gave them physical necessities in order to build bridges into their lives (Acts 6). And so, too, DFC reaches out to those in the community—seeking opportunities to help those in need. Being a missional church means that we need to get out of the church building and go to where the people are. This is not just an ideology, but rather it is a commission from God. We take the Great Commission seriously and want to reach the ends of the earth for Christ. DFC starts right here, in our own backyards. There are many people, locally, that do not know Christ. If we truly believe that Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life and that no one gets to The Father except through Him then we must be out in our neighborhoods sharing that Good News with all who are willing to listen. Denair Friends Church believes in building long-lasting relationships.

Those relationships extend beyond people seeing us love one another; they must know that they are loved as well. To love someone implies that there is relationship. To say we love our neighbor does not mean we can do it from afar. We must find ways to meet people where they are, follow through with them, and build relationships with people— both inside the church and out. This is a priority at Denair Friends Church and we believe that relationships are key!
